Have Chronic Health Conditions Turned You Into a Drug Addict?

Haqve Chronic Health ConditionSo, have your health problems turned you into a drug addict? How long can you go without chemicals: a pill to sleep, a pill to wake up, one to lower cholesterol, blood pressure…name your problem. How much medication – doctor prescribed, over the counter, or self-prescribed – do you take every day in search of health or relief from symptoms?

Granted, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease—to name a few—are serious. They must be addressed. Don’t despair. There are things you can do—in addition to necessary prescriptions—that can have a positive impact on chronic health challenges.

Here’s an amazing fact: The average American takes 2.3 medically prescribed chemicals (and a bunch of non-prescribed ones) every day. That’s why pharmaceuticals makers are among the biggest, most profitable companies in the world. To keep supplied with these chemicals, many Americans see their doctors more often than they see their extended families.

Although there is a huge financial cost to society from long-term, degenerative diseases like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes, these health disasters have at least an equal cost to your quality of life. Doctors may cure your symptoms, but they can’t give you joy.

Chronic illness costs you well being, peace of mind, emotional resilience and lots of money. It also causes the ones who love you to worry, not to mention the stress of taking care of you when your chronic condition turns into a catastrophe. Not to mention the sadness they will feel when they lose you. Maybe you noticed, your health doesn’t just affect you.

Cardiologists give their patients lists of things they can do to improve their heart health, and meditation is on that list. A cancer surgery center teaches patients to meditate because they found patients who meditate bleed less, use less medicine and go home sooner.

A variety of scientific studies have documented that meditation reduces high blood pressure, which is epidemic in the United States. Hypertension is a huge factor in cardiovascular disease, which has been the leading cause of death in the U.S. for over a century and accounts for half of all deaths annually. This problem is spreading to many countries.

But don’t ask your doctors and nurses to teach you to meditate. They don’t practice what they prescribe, and besides, they haven’t the time or the knowledge. We do.

With Unleash Your Inner Genius (UYIG), we have taken years of instruction and practice and distilled it to its essence – deep relaxation and thought watching. These are simple things that every person can do, but which may seem too challenging to practice at first.

It is the practice of meditation that we emphasize in UYIG, and that differentiates our program from every other meditation program out there. That’s why we send you an email every day for a month with a daily audio lesson that includes a meditation period. We also give you a PDF of the same lesson so you can read it as often as you want. This daily delivery is an effective way to incubate the idea of practice in the mind-chatter and negative emotions that occupy so many hearts and minds.

There’s nothing eastern, complicated or guru-based about UYIG; this is truly meditation for everyone. We’ve made meditation so simple, you can’t do it wrong

Don’t know how to meditate?
